Indian and world film fans are reeling from the loss of two major Indian film actors within a day of each other this week.

IRRFAN KHAN January 7, 1967 - April 29, 2020
Khan many say was a "wonderfully nuanced actor" who was not only in Bollywood movies but became an international star with films like LIFE OF PI, SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE, and THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN. His greatest role was in the global hit THE LUNCHBOX. A great role was Asif Kapadia's THE WARRIOR. He also shone in Mira Nair's THE NAMESAKE. Lots of great films to go back and rewatch or discover for the first time. See Peter Bradshaw's GUARDIAN tribute (https://www.theguardian.com/film/2020/apr/29/irrfan-khan-a-sensitive-and-seductive-actor-lunchbox-peter-bradshaw), "A seductive actor capable of exquisite gentleness."

RISHI KAPOOR September 4, 1952 - April 30, 2020
Mr. Kapoor, who has died of leukemia at 67, "was a Bollywood giant, a handsome, charming matinee idol who starred in dozens of films in the 1970s and ’80s, and hailed from an illustrious film family" (NYT). For fans of Bollywood films reviewing Kapoor's filmography provides a cornucopia of delights. See the obituary in the NYTIMES (https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/30/movies/rishi-kapoor-dead.html). "Best known as a romantic hero, he had a charm and charisma that made him one of India’s most popular actors of the 1970s and ’80s."
