This year's Telluride poster.

It takes place Sept. 2-5, 2016 in the mountain town of Telluride, Colorado. Telluride will screen over 70 feature films; short films; revival programs from 22 countries, & artist Tributes, Conversations, Panels, Student Programs & Festivities. See Indiewire (http://www.indiewire.com/2016/09/telluride-film-festival-2016-lineup-arrival-moonlight-la-la-land-1201721468/) for a description of the main selections.

They (the Indiewire intro) highlights Barry Jenkins' Moonlight (an A24 release, also in the NYFF Main Slate) as "the story of an alienated African American boy that stretches across three decades." Denis Villeneuve's Arrival is a sci-fi film.

La La Land is the musical film Damien Chazelle wanted to make, a tribute to Hollywood musicals (debuted by Lionsgate at Venice).

A major mainstream release not featured at other festivals is Clint Eastwood's Sully starring Tom Hanks.

Another big premiere is Bleed for This, a boxing biopic starring Miles Teller.
