The Academy announced the Oscar Nominations this morning. Who got screwed? Gran Torino, Revolutionary Road, Benicio del Toro for his performance in Che and Charlie Kaufman for his Synecdoche, NY script. Favorite to win Best Film: Only MILK and SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE have a chance, forget about the other three nominated films.

I don't think that's all who got slighted or bypassed (which I'll prefer to "screwed"). But that's enough. You must be pleased by the success of FROZEN RIVER, which I found overrated. I'd rather have had BALLAST so recognized. But Melissa Leo is an experienced actress of good quality, who even was on the cast of HOMICIDE: LIFE ON THE STREETS! Some, including me, would like to have seen RACHEL GETTING MARRIED high up in the lists, so to our way of thinking it got slighted too. and when awards are given out for things like costumes and makeup and cinematography, I'll be missing any mention of Tarsem Singh's THE FALL.
