I asked myself the same question:
why remake a cult classic?

But Neil LaBute is at the helm.

Gotta see it.

I can hear all the members of The Wicker Man cult carping about what's wrong with this movie but the truth is nothing's wrong with it.

I was major creeped out by it.
It's a brilliant remake, lacking the nudity of the original.
Ms. Sobieski is a cinema icon to me.
Her voice, her face- angelic. And those eyes...
She's an intelligent actress.
She was Milich's daughter in Eyes Wide Shut
("you should get a cloak lined with ermine")
She is CHILLING in this film. The ending is awesome. AWESOME!

Another acting icon, Mrs. Ellen Burstyn is so good here that I'm speechless. What a role, "Honoring the Goddess".

Mr. Cage plays a character akin to Jimmy Stewart, lost in a maze.

Robin Hardy's classic is not sleighted here, in fact they stayed more true to the spirit of the original than we could have hoped them to be- it is a remake after all.

But I loved it.
LOVED IT
LOVED IT

Check out those twin old ladies. FreakNASTY!
Check out the beekeepers. (with those creepy snorkel/shrouds- when cage is locked in the grotto by one of them- ominous, great movie trick)
Check out those masks they all wear to the ceremony- incredible

I thought Warner Brothers' decision not to screen this for crits meant it was one to pass on, LaBute or no LaBute. Carping by fans of the original not something that would bother me. Ms. Sobieski IS an intelligent actress. I asked Dylan if he wanted to go see it. He replied "Yeah, dad... with ma homiez".

Wicker Man's great.

It's just entertainment- I had a good time at the theatre.
It's a weird weird story, but I likes stuff like that...

The trailer for Aronofsky's new movie looks good and so does Christopher Nolan's (re-teaming with some peeps from Batman Begins).

So your son Dylan has a posse?
Peeps and homies in the hood?
Word?

That's dope, yo.
