Initially, it was only Jang Dong Gun (the guy in Tae Guk Gi)
Then there were more ... e.g., Ahn Sung Ki, Park Jung Hoon, etc
Then Choi Min Shik (the guy in Oldboy) returned a medal awarded to him by the government ...

The moviemakers' coalition plans to hold a march in central Seoul to protest the free trade negotiations.

The U.S. wants to expand trade with South Korea. South Korea's government announced Jan. 26 it would half the number of days that cinemas must show local movies from 146 to 73, in response to demands by Pixar, Walt Disney Co. and other Hollywood studios. A week later, South Korea and the U.S. agreed to begin negotiations for a free-trade agreement.

There is a 15-page feature on the South Korean cinema scene in Film Comment from early 2005 (Jan - February I believe) or possibly Nov-Dec 2004. It was written by Chuck Smith who has a very deep knowledge of the scene. Take a look: filmcomment.com!
