Now here is a mix... for the first time in years, the independents have taken the main stage and the big features, such as "King Kong" are being given the back seat.

And as Oscar so aptly put on another site... Woody Allen for Best Drama? Pride and Prejudice for Best Comedy? What will happen next? Brokeback Mountain took the lead with the most noms.

Will some enterprising member please list them all? Here's a link to the site: http://www.hfpa.org/index/index.html

I'll bet King Kong has some large globules come Oscar time.

I like how, unlike the Academy awards, Golden Globes rules allow two films from the same country to be nominated for Foreign Language film.
I also like Paltrow, Theron and Giamatti getting acting noms even though the films that feature their perfs were not nominated.

ha ha ha ...
but actually ... KUNG FU HUSTLE (HK) ...

yup, we know HK is part of China ...
but hey, Oscar allows China, HK, and Taiwan to have their separate submissions too ...
* naughty grin *

anyway,
although I am actually glad that two Chinese films make it,
BUT BUT BUT ... will it split the votes?!

... oh no ...

I thought Transamerica was a comedy? Oh well, I must say I enthusiastically disagree with Walk the Line being the best Musical/Comedy for two reasons, one it's not a musical, and two it's no where near as good as Pride and Prejudice, Mrs. Henderson Presents, or the Squid and the Whale.
