I think you're right and this is a good comment. "The SUnshine State" is hard to write about because it's so complicated, first of all, and secondly because despite great acting and some touching moments, it never sings. YOu feel like you've just seen a superior movie and you wonder why you weren't thrilled one bit. I personally found "Lone Star" interminable and "Sunshine State" more absorbing, but overall "Sunshine State" left me disappointed--though as usual, impressed by Sayles' integrity and originality.
