I was hoping someone with a bit more flair and experience would be discussing some of the exciting new stuff coming out of Venice this week. I'll take a stab at what I've heard...

Up for the Golden Lion:

Seven Swords (Hong Kong) described as 17th Century Star Wars meets Lord of the Rings

Changhen Ge (China) Fifty years of China told through the eyes of character...

Brokeback Mountain (USA) Ang Lee's latest film of two cowboys' love story from youth into adult years. Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal star.

Good Night and Good Luck (USA) George Clooney involved

Casanova (USA/UK) story of the great lover with a twist

Takeshi's (Japan) Suprise entry from Japanese film director

Proof (UK) Gweneth Paltrow stars as daughter of scientist?

I'm sure I butchered the entire entry, but many of the films sounded new and different. Now, someone tell the real story of what's going on in Venice this week. Please.
