Well they continue to confound me, not just with what they got on the horizon, but in how horrible their website is. You'd think the release of L'Argent, and the two Ousmane Sembene films would get mentioned on their site, but nope.

However there are plenty of titles listed in the coming soon section. Enough that I went a little nuts on the pre-ordering.

Their website is certainly one of the worst out there. I think they just need a staff member who isn't a senior citizen.

But, as you said, they deserve credit for finally releasing these films on DVD. Hopefully they won't make us wait 3-yrs for Moolaadé like they did with ABC Africa.

Some interesting choices, indeed; I guess we've gone over a few of them already, but the Fassbinder, the Straub, and the Caetano are pleasant surprises.

I believe Landscape in the Mist was originally scheduled for August. Hopefully, no more delays!

Well we all know what the gem of that bunch is. Celine and Julie Go Boating is one of my favorite French films and by far my favorite Rivette film, at least of the few I've seen. Interesting to see Hail Mary coming out, I would like to hope New Yorker will actually add special features (for once), but as for Celine, I'm just happy it's coming out. I honestly don't get excited about any Chabrol films coming out as he's not really one of my favorites, and of the Cahier's filmmakers, I find him the least interesting. This thread is good to look up, because I can't remember when half these films are supposed to come out. When I settle my current CC Bill I'm going to have to make a few orders.

Speaking of which anybody know a good source for New Yorker DVD's?

Highly looking forward to watching Celine and Julie on DVD for the first time. Can't say that it's my favorite Rivette (that would be Out 1 / Spectre) but it's up there. I'm a bigger fan of Chabrol than you are; I truly admire his consistency. The Swindle isn't one of his best, though.

Peter Watkins' devastating Punishment Park (1971) will be available on DVD on Nov 22nd.

Werner Herzog's The Great Ecstasy of the Sculptor Steiner (1975)/How Much Wood Would A Woodchuck Chuck (1977)/La Soufriere (1977) will be available on Oct 25th.

The 4 French films I listed earlier didn't get released. Dos Santos' Vidas Secas just came out on January 10th. (It was earlier scheduled for October.) Not quite sure what's going on.

One of their newer films, Daniel Burman's Lost Embrace, is mentioned as a Feb 14th release.

I noticed looking at this list, that New Yorker although starting with an ambitious release schedule seems to have fallen behind. Here's to hoping they get on the ball, I'm almost willing to forvige the last 5 years of inactivity just for the Sembene films alone.

I wonder when and if they plan to release Moolade.
Looking forward to Kiarostami's ABC Africa and Straub-Huillet's Chronicle of Anna Magdalena Bach, which I'll watch within a month.
Also looking forward to Peter Watkins' Edvard Munch, scheduled for 2/21/06.
