I wouldn't want to be the director competing against Scorsese this year. I would say this Oscar is long overdue. He'll certainly take the Guild and will probably take the Globe, although his dealing with foreign press in the past was a bit shakey. However, everyone will have to agree that nothing is on the plate this year that will knock Marty off. Unless you go global... eh, Oscar?

That was why I did not bother to list others in the category. ha ha ha
I am really looking towards the MOST COMPETITIVE CATEGORY this year -- Best Male Performance (esp. in Oscar, with only 1 category, rather than 2 in Golden Globe).
I felt that Best Cinematography, Art Direction and Costume are also rather competitive this year. However, I think Golden Globe only has Best Cinematography category?!
I really could care less about the Golden Globes, but it does serve some indicator of what films I should watch before the Oscars. Since I haven't seen The Aviator I can't tell if Scorsese should win an Oscar this year (finally). He is arguably the best living director, and possibly the best American director, but I wouldn't want to see him win an Oscar as a lifetime achievement award for an undeserving film.
Anyways I think I'm rambling, but I'll bet anybody Jamie Foxx will win a Golden Globe.

Wow, two Kill Bill actor nods. Never thought I'd see that. I don't have much to say on the rest, as I haven't seen most of them.

Brief thoughts:
Congrats to Swank and Eastwood, winners of Best Actress-Drama and Best Director, respectively, for "Million Dollar Baby". They both deserved those awards.
Congrats also to Natalie Portman and Clive Owen for their Best Supporting Actress / Actor awards for "Closer"; their performances were the best thing about that movie.
Is there any doubt Jamie Foxx will also win the Oscar for Best Actor for his performance in "Ray"?
"Sideways" won for Best Screenplay and Best Film -Musical/Comedy. Probably will be a repeat at the Oscars. Get out the Pepto-Bismol.

I am VERY happy with this year's Golden Globe.
;)
(1) Finally, they give it to Clive Owen!
Guess my campaigning works ... ;PPP * just kidding *
Anyway, I hope this does NOT jeopardize his chance at the Oscar (esp., from those who pity Thomas or Morgan)
(2) All the winners are deserving, Leonardo, Jamie, Annette, Hilary, Clive, Natalie, and Clint. In other categories, The Aviator, Sideways and The Sea Inside deserve too.

(3) I think it will win the Best Adapted Screenplay at Oscar. However, I am NOT for it to win the Best Film. It should go to The Aviator or Million Dollar Baby.
Clint was a surprise, haven't seen either his film or Scorsese's so can't yet judge whether it was deserving, but I need sleep.
