Sky Captain, The Incredibles, and now Polar Express - a new crop of super animated feature films is a taste of an onslaught of a evolutionary step in cartoon figures becoming almost human-like. Will real live actors go the way that laborers went when robotic machines began to take over? There is almost a fearful wave of dread that came over me during Polar Express when the waiters came bounding out into the train - all clones of each other, almost emotionless robots. With this new computer animated technology, it almost made Bill Murray look good as Garfield. Tom Hanks as the conductor was able to really shine in a Hank-like way never really captured on film before. How ironic that soon perhaps live actors may return to the days of radio when only their voices were heard (but with animated figures replacing their actual bodies instead in feature films).
