While its perhaps beneath most astute serious film fans, The "Little Black Book" presents one of the most wonderful twists since "The Sixth Sense" in a romantic comedy genre. This movie is Ally McBeal welcome to television. Holly Hunter and Kathy Bates perform solidly in this comedy that has more serious undertones that prove in the end to make this movie into a much more deliberate and meaningful film than most romantic comedies.
Brittany Murphy offers up a funny, wildly entertaining, but perhaps one of the more overlooked movies of the year. It's too bad, more of the audience didn't really appreciate the pathos and the deliberately well written script the truly has a solid, not airy nor mindless subtext.
One of the best romantic comedies to come out in years.
